Leopards Hill Secondary School
Learning for Service
"Our mission is to provide our students a holistic excellent education that will help them acquire skills to know, to do and to be."
A Brief History
Leopards Hill Secondary School (LHSS) is one of the oldest private schools existing in Zambia today. Established in March 1980, the school is situated in Ibex Hill off Kabulonga Road and covers a lovely spacious 50 acre piece of land.
LHSS was conceived against the background of the alarming numbers of Grade 7 school leavers who could not obtain places in Government Secondary Schools.
In 1977, out of a total of 121,000 Grade 7 pupils, only 21,000 obtained places in government schools. 100,000 were left to fend for themselves. With these alarming figures, a group of prominent Zambian citizens, comprising E.J. Shamwana S.C. (Late), Mr. V.J. Mwaanga, Dr. G.H. Mutale, Mr. R. Banda decided to establish a self-help school through community contributions, and this was done. In March 1980, the school opened its doors and promised to be the best.
Today the school takes pride in the high quality of graduates serving in various portfolios all around the world.
The education offered here challenges the young minds and creates in them the desire to be the best, but in a spirit of service for others.
Over the years, the school has developed into a fully fledged boarding school and has developed a rich reputation for high quality education. LHSS has through the years produced over 1,500 Grade 9 pupils and over 1,250 Grade 12 pupils.
