Family Background:
Lubona comes from an elderly-headed household. She lives with her grandparents who took guardianship after her parents who had divorced remarried and neither new spouse wished to house any children from the previous marriage. Both Lubona’s grandparents are retired, but her grandfather runs a small grocery shop, and her grandmother, a horticulturalist, is able to supplement the family income by selling plants. Their incomes however, are inadequate to sponsor Lubona at Secondary school level.
Lubona's Education:
Lubona was such a hardworking student in primary school that she scored above average in her subjects in end of term examinations. She has been groomed by her grand mother to wake up early in the morning and study before going to school. Her grandfather could also help her with Mathematics while could have some extra lessons in various subjects that she found more difficult. Her favorite subjects at primary school were Mathematics, English and Science.
Lunona's Interests:
Signing, dancing and cooking. Lubona hopes to be a medical doctor because she wants to help those who are sick.
What Others Think of Her:
Lubona is a very friendly and active girl. She belongs to the Girl Guides Club and is also a member of the Anti-AIDS Club, where members are taught how to care for themselves and take responsibility for their lives active in the community. Her primary school teachers describe her as a hard working, responsible and dependable girl.
