Family Background:
Joseph lives with his aunt, Namushi Litebele, in Kaunda Square. His was born and lived in a village in Western Mongu with his father, mother, brother and sister. Village life was extremely difficult at times, especially since the family only produced enough food for consumption and not for sale. Paying for many necessities was extremely tough and so Joseph would have gone without much of an education were it not for his aunt who took an interest in his development.

Namushi had once been kept by an aunt of hers and greatly benefited from the financial support she received. She was able to finish her secondary school and also completed a course in education, qualifying her to be a teacher. Because of this experience, she decided to help her sister take care of Joseph. She said about Joseph, "I noticed that he was very bright."

Currently Namushi is not teaching but is working for someone in a small business shop that sells cosmetics. Her income is very low so often she cannot pay for all of Joseph's school needs on time. She usually has to ask Joseph to wait a few weeks before she can purchase a uniform or text books.

Joseph's Education:
When Joseph moved in with Namushi, he was enrolled at Mumana basic school. Here is where he began to show his aunt just how bright he really was. Starting from grade one, Joseph placed among the top three positions in his class and continued to do so all the way until grade seven. Perhaps this is due to the love he has for inspiring teachers.

Because of his example of hard work, Joseph was selected to be a class monitor in grades five through seven. Part of his responsibilities included controlling the noise levels in class, taking books wherever teachers needed them, and making sure the classes were clean after school.

Joseph's favorite subjects have been Mathematics, English and Social Science.

Career Interests:
Joseph wants to be an accountant once he has completed his studies.

What the teachers think of Joseph:
His primary school teachers expressed that he is making good progress in all the subjects and is always ready to learn new things. He cooperates with others easily and freely. He has the ability to lead and guide others and is willing to follow simple instructions and has been a school prefect because of that.

Joseph's Thoughts:
“My name is Joseph Chonza and I come from a family of five- my father, mother, brother, sister, and myself. I am being kept by my aunt in Kaunda Square Stage 1.

I am talented in running and supervising others at school.

I have overcome so many challenges in life more especially where school support is concerned, because my aunties income is so little that sometimes she can't manage to buy my school requirements at once. I feel that Kucetekela Foundation will help me better myself through its financial support for me to complete my secondary school. I really thank God because it has come at the right time. I need sponsorship and it is my prayer to God that Kucetekela Foundation should go forward.

Through my accounting career I would help my community by giving advice to people. I would show them how to start a small businesses and show them how to run it and how to manage the finances. I will also advise people to join clubs in the community by telling them about the advantages of joining clubs such as learning so many skills in life that can help them. I would also advise them to make use of the skills to come up with their own business in future.”
